Wilbur Francis Dubon

As the Coordinator and Mariculture Specialist, Wilbur assists with the oversight of administrative aspects of the country office, providing administrative and operational support to TNC’s conservation work, including grants and contracts implementation and administration. He also provides support for the oversight of the Rio Bravo Carbon Sequestration project. His involvement in the sustainable seaweed project includes the development of best management practices, revision and updating of the seaweed training program for adoption at a national level, providing support for the development of value-added products and access to niche markets, guiding the establishment of seaweed nurseries in southern and northern Belize, and facilitating socio-economic and ecological monitoring of the seaweed farms in both regions of the country. He is also a member of the national Seaweed Working Group, bringing private sector, government and conservation organizations together to assist in guiding the sustainable development of the industry. Prior to joining the Conservancy, Wilbur worked with the Placencia Producers Cooperative (2015-2017) and was the key person involved in the development of the seaweed cultivation training program. He has a M.Sc. in Aquaculture from the National Taiwan Ocean University, and a B.Sc. in Natural Resource Management from the University of Belize.
